This Amazon Sleep Mask Is Traveler-approved

I’ve never been the best sleeper. Even in the most comfortable and serene of settings, I sometimes have issues falling asleep. So, it’s no surprise that it can be nearly impossible to achieve a decent degree of shut-eye when I’m on a red-eye or long-haul flight

The main reason why sleeping on flights is so difficult for me is that I’m often taking off outside of traditional bedtime hours and surrounded by distracting stimuli. Odds are, the noise of my fellow passengers moving and chatting around me will keep me up, and I won’t be able to block out the bright lights from people looking out of their windows, watching a movie, or scrolling on their phones. Pair that with the uncomfortable upright seats, and I inevitably land at my destination exhausted and feeling like garbage, often with a full day’s itinerary directly ahead of me. But that was before I gave the top-rated Mavogel Sleep Mask a try.

I’ve never really considered myself a sleep mask person. It felt kind of counter-intuitive, to be honest. When sleep isn’t easy to come by, it doesn’t feel like it’d be helpful to add an unfamiliar object to my face to serve as an added distraction and source of discomfort. But I couldn’t have been more wrong. Since adding the Mavogel Sleep Mask to my in-flight bedtime routine, a miracle has happened: I may not have become a champion sleeper, but blocking out light and focusing on rest has gotten a whole lot easier.

I realized after ordering this mask that getting rest and blocking out light isn’t just about wearing any old eye or sleep mask, but wearing the right one. That should have been obvious — shoes or jeans have to be the right fit — why shouldn’t your sleep mask follow the same truth? The Mavogel Sleep Mask has a useful feature in an adjustable nose wire, reminiscent of the face masks we were all wearing during the pandemic era. This combined with the back-of-the-head strap helps the mask stay in place and comfortably snug against your face, which means it won’t let those distracting lights through as I’m trying to get to sleep.

It’s also super comfortable as it’s made with 100 percent cotton fabric, so it feels almost like there is a mini cozy pillow on my face. I know that weighted eye masks are actually a pretty popular thing these days, but I was not looking for added weight or pressure on my face. Instead, I wanted a mask that was breathable and featherlight so it felt like I was wearing nothing at all — and this is as close as I’m going to get to that.

The convenient travel pouch it comes with is a great asset as well, as I can throw it in my carry-on or purse and have it ready for bedtime. It’s not limited to planes, either. I’ve grabbed this sleep mask and put it on in hotel rooms as well in situations where there have been lights coming in from the outside. This is even helpful at home when trying to take a daytime nap. And, since you get two for the price of one, you can easily leave one on your bedside table and one in your travel bag so you’re never without it.

Over at Amazon, thousands of shoppers have given the Mavogel Sleep Mask a stamp of approval for its ability to block out light when they’re at home and in flight. In fact, it’s been purchased more than 600 times in the last month alone. One reviewer shared, “These did the trick for the ‘midnight sun’ of Alaska as well as travel on [the] flight,” while another raved that they’re “so much more comfortable” than the complementary versions you get from airlines: “I can’t go back to the free ones anymore. I love the soft feeling on my eyes and the fact it’s not too tight on my head.”

And, a final shopper called quipped, “These sleep masks are magical. They are so comfortable, stay in place, and allow me to sleep much better. I don’t sleep without this mask now.” Want to know how I really know that the Mavogel Sleep Mask checks all the boxes? When I emerge from my nap or in-flight snooze, I’m always shocked to find that it’s still daytime and I’m in an airplane seat.

It’s rare for anything to make you feel a homey level of comfort and coziness on a long flight. If you’re considering upgrading your in-flight accessories, keep scrolling to check out the other top-rated Amazon sleep masks that will help you get some Zs.
