These Common Items Are Now Banned in Your Carry-on Bag

The good news is you can now go through TSA security checkpoints without having to take your shoes off. However, the TSA is now adding to the list of banned items in your carry-on bags.

No more cordless electric curling irons, because in many cases they use flammable butane cartridges. No aerosol insecticides. And no alcohol brands that register more than 140 proof. They need to be packed, carefully, in checked bags.

Another restriction: no one can check more than five bottles.

And speaking of alcohol, anyone remember those Magic 8 Balls that would tell your fortune? They might be cute, but they can’t be carried on. They also contain alcohol.

One item that didn’t make the banned list — not that this affects many of you — is live lobsters. The TSA does allow you to carry them on. Just remember to keep them in the bag.
