The U.S. passport ranks tenth in the latest Henley Passport Index, returning to the top 10 but still trailing 37 other countries.
It offers visa-free access to 179 destinations, one fewer than last fall, after having dropped out of the top 10 — to 12th place — for the first time in the index’s history in October.
There are 37 countries that outrank the U.S., up from 36 last fall. Over the past year, the U.S. passport recorded its steepest annual drop in visa-free access,
