Key Takeaways
- Nicole Kidman’s latest hairstyle change-up involved a bright red Jellyfish bob and baby bangs.
- The two-layer style was just one of the edgy looks she showed off for a recent photoshoot.
To quote my brilliant editor, Bella: “I love living in a world where Nicole Kidman changes her hair every week.”
It’s true. The 57-year-old gives us so much: hair inspiration, stellar performances, red carpet quotes, the word “babygirl” back in the common lexicon. And she never quits! Just days after I commented that she’d somehow given us a bixie, icy blonde bob, cool blonde ponytail, and strawberry blonde blowout *in the last month alone,* she has a new and even more major hairstyle to show off.

Nicole Kidman’s Jellyfish Bob
On Thursday, May 22, Allure released a new cover shoot starring Kidman. In the photos, which were posted to the magazine’s Instagram, she rocks a “jellyfish” bob in a bright red color à la her Practical Magic era.
The thing about a traditional jellyfish haircut—or even a soft jellyfish cut—is that the shortest layer is usually bob-length. So, a jellyfish bob has to do its job with less surface area. Hairstylist Evanie Frausto‘s take on the style included two side-by-side layers about an inch apart. Though the difference wasn’t major in terms of actual, physical length, it served as a great visual tool for anyone curious about cutting their own bob—going a little shorter can really change the vibe.
There’s something about the cheekbone-skimming shorter layer that’s so edgy and fun; I’d love to see Kidman try out the look again (though with the constant changes I’m not sure she has room on her hairstyling schedule).
Frausto finished the cut with some wispy baby bangs, which also appeared in other styles from the shoot. Surprise, surprise! This wasn’t the only look she had going on.

Nicole Kidman’s Photoshoot Hairstyles
Though they kept the red hair color, Frausto had some fun with the haircutting scissors on set. In some images, Kidman rocked a longer jellyfish cut with even shorter bangs. In others, she tried out a ’90s lob with longer, eyebrow-skimming fringe.
The best part? Every last look suited her. I suppose if I was Nicole Kidman I’d be doing the most all of the time, too.
