It happens on almost every flight, almost every time you land. Before the plane even gets to the gate, passengers are already standing, opening overhead compartments, trying to lead the race off the plane.
Of course, it’s never a race, but a bottleneck, and the result — no one moves quickly.
Now, at least one country says it will take action.
In Turkey, if you get up out of your seat before the plane stops taxiing or comes to a stop at the gate, you will be fined about $67 in U.S. dollars.
While I understand the sentiment, will this new policy prove to be a deterrent? Probably not. When you consider that stopping the offending passengers to issue the fine will most likely delay deplaning even more.
